The weather looks great, the town is buzzing and Órgiva’s annual four day knees-up starts this Thursday, 30 September. It didn’t happen in 2020, so it is a welcome return.
Here is what’s in store this year (the ‘big tent’ mentioned is situated in the municipal car park):
Thursday 30 September
5pm – Bouncy castles and games for kids: Plaza Alpujarra (the main square)
7pm – Snacks for kids: Plaza Alpujarra
10.30pm – Concert by the fabulous ‘Asociación Musical Exoche’ (see here): the big tent
12am – Music / DJs: the big tent
Friday 1 October
11.30am – Kids fun stuff: Plaza Alpujarra
12pm – Brass band perform around the streets of the town
2pm – The group ‘Gin Tonic‘ perform in front of the church
2pm – The town’s bars participate in this year’s theme ‘Viva La Feria De Órgiva‘
3pm – The flamenco / vocal group ‘Rociero Alto Guadalquivir‘: the big tent
5pm – Snacks for kids: Plaza Alpujarra
10pm – The comic Javi Aguilera: the big tent
11.30pm – Flamenco and Rumba: the big tent
12.30am – Group Trío Esfera peform music from across the decades: the big tent
Saturday 2 October
10am – Brass band / colourful floats trundle around the streets of the town
11.30am – Kids fun stuff: Plaza Alpujarra
2pm – The town’s bars serve up fried eggs and garlic – yay!
2pm – The group ‘Azahara‘ perform in front of the church
3pm – The flamenco / vocal group ‘Rociero Alto Guadalquivir‘: the big tent
6pm – Snacks for kids: Plaza Alpujarra
7pm – Theatre for all the family from ‘Vagalume‘: Plaza Alpujarra
9pm – The comic Christian García: the big tent
10pm – Performances of 80s and 90s music by groups ‘Comando G‘ and ‘La Orquesta Manigua‘: the big tent
Sunday 3 October
1pm – Migas Competition plus music from the trio ‘Son de Mar‘: Río Chico
2pm – The group ‘Azahara‘ perform in front of the church
2pm – The town’s bars serve up migas
3pm – Performance by the duo ‘Spiral‘: the big tent
4pm – Prizes are awarded to the migas competition participants
6pm – Theatre for all the family from ‘IPROöv‘: Location unknown, probably Plaza Alpujarra
12am – Adiós to this year’s fiesta with fireworks
