Órgiva’s most boring video (possibly)

Lo sentimos – from time to time we’re guilty of posting pictures of our cats, a thrashing lizard’s tail and loads of goats, but surely this takes the prize for the town’s most boring video – all 04:47 minutes of it. Even the six-word opening title fills the screen for a sleep-inducing 17 seconds.

But then the fun starts: there’s a wooden bench, a blue car, two men chatting, a close-up of a flower (with irrigation tubing) and the top of someone’s head. At one stage, a person carries a banner of sorts – in London, it would say ‘McDonalds this way’.

The fountain is sweet but the grand finale surpasses everything. At 04:04, Órgiva church is lovingly showered with stars and Hong Kong appears in black and white accompanied by some World War 2 search lights. Maybe Órgiva is twinned with Hong Kong, or the East End of London, who knows.

It ends with the moon, possibly the dark side.

The place featured – Placeta del Barrio Luque – can be home to some fantastic music, processions and the like. This week we’ll post more about it.

* Órgiva’s serial video chronicler actually deserves the prize. More another time (if we can even bring ourselves to promote his magna opera).

  4. It’s cool when the flowers go weird shapes to signal a new scene—of more flowers.
