Órgiva’s post office (oficina de correos) is open Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 2.30pm, Saturday 9.30pm to 1pm. It’s closed on Sundays.
It’s on Av de González Robles – near the BP garage, just around the corner from Las Alpujarras supermarket. It features on our maps.
Post doesn’t get delivered to our casita so we’ve set up a PO box (Apartado Postal). We can pick up letters, large parcels and things ordered over the internet.
A simple form was completed, copies of our passports taken and we were given a key. It only took 10 minutes.
The back wall of the post office is lined with small post boxes. If a parcel is delivered, there’s a slip waiting to say so and you collect it from behind the counter.
The cost is around €73 for a year which runs from January to December. We did gather (via our minimal Spanish) that it’s €40 for a quarter so if you set one up in, say, October you could go for this option, then start a new year from January.
